Cobb County Jail

Inmates

Interview with Harry and Qtip

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates?
Harry: Once I was admitted to population you are brought to a room where you are "dressed out" and given your jail clothes. You are with a group of same sex inmates, and asked to strip down and you are given your jail clothes. Basically Jail socks and boxers, a pull-over shirt and pants and rubber sandals. Once you are dressed out, you are taken to the pod that everyone goes to first, here is called "M" pod. Once you enter in the pod, your are immediately checked out by the other 50-75 inmates residing in that pod. Some give your dirty looks; some acknowledge you with a "nod." I personally am a pretty big guy so I was not very worried. You find an empty bunk and place sleeping mat, sheet, blanket, toothbrush and soap there and try to get comfortable. Bottom bunks are first to go, as those are the ones that most of the inmates that have been there longest get. Then once one person leaves that pod, the next person waiting for a bottom bunk gets it. If you try to steal a bottom bunk, you will start a fight. Other than that, you mind your own business and no one will mess with you.
Qtip: Nope Everyone Just Chilled With Everybody

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Harry: Do not try to use the phone before someone else. Do not try to get food before someone else. Basically do not disrespect anyone that's been there longer than you or is bigger than you.
Qtip: Card Games

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate if you knew one?
Harry: No, you find the first available bunk and you share that bunk with another inmate.
Qtip: Nope
