Hi, My boyfriend is leaving tomorrow to serve a 6 month sentece. He takes oxycontin and I was wondering what they do with inmates struggling with an addiction. Do they place them in the infermery and give them medication for the withdrawls? I heard that they will give him muscle relaxers from one friend but it was not a reliable source. Coming off of oxycontin is basically the same thing as withdrawling form herowin. It is VERY dangerous so I am really anxious to find out what is going to happen to him. Thanks

It is not dangerous to detox off of heroin unless you have a heart or liver condition. He wont get muscle relaxers. He might get a glass of water and a puke bucket. Be grateful that he wont get meds cuz he wont soon forget the "flu" of a lifetime. He might not want to contract it again.
