Cobb County Jail

Closing Advice

Interview with Harry, Qtip, Hanna, DoneMyTime, Linda and Missy

JM: Is there anything else you would want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to jail?
Harry: Find someone that you can talk to on the outside. It gets really lonely being in jail with no one to talk to on the outside. Luckily I had a fiance to call daily that kept me in good spirits. If I had to serve over a month I really think I would have gone crazy.
Qtip: just make sure to talk to them write them or something jail gets loney....its nice to hear from people who care about you
Hanna: Don't go back once your out! Write a lot of letters while you are in. Use the time while you are in there to really think about your life and where it is going.. it is never too late to turn things around!
DoneMyTime: Pray to God and ask for forgivenss and guidance to a better life. Ask God for patience and keep you covered under the blood of Jesus for protection. You can't trick God and the Jailers..they are too experienced and know all tricks
Linda: CHECK ON YOUR LOVE ONES EVEN IF IT'S VIA LETTER. YOU HAVE GOOD AND BAD WORKING AT THE JAIL. IF THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS BEHIND BARS A QUIET SOUL NEVER IS HEARD.WRITE AN GRIEVENCE AGAINST THE GUARD YOU'RE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH. YOU THINK IT DON'T HELP BUT IT HELP ME GGET A BED AND TO SEE NURSE FOR MEDICINE.
Missy: STICK BY YOU'RE LOVED ONE INSIDE THOSE WALLS BECAUSE WITHOUT HELP FROM THE OUTSIDE THEY DONT HAVE ANYONE.AND ARE SUBJECT TO BEING MISTREATED.AND JAIL CAN OPEN YOU'RE EYE'S TO ALOT OF THINGS.

JM: Is there anything else you would recommend to a future inmate?
Harry: Just do what's asked of you, and do not try to cheat the system. Just try to do your time, keep your head up, and pray to your higher power to give you strength. Make sure you get some exercise and try to eat. found keeping a journal helped me get through he hard times. I would act like I was writing someone on the outside, which you could do. But I did it for myself.
Qtip: just do what they say and get the hell out of there ;)
Hanna: Don't disrespect anyone in there. You are no better then anybody! Even if the guards are in a sour mood, don't be rude. Remember you are an inmate. Play a lot of cards, and listen to a lot of stories, there is a lot to learn in there. DONT listen to jail house lawyers!!! They all claim to know what is going to happen with your case!
DoneMyTime: Don't look at the time as punishment. View it as time out to get yourself organized and write to everyone including yourself. Your life look more real to you, when it is in words. Plan for short term and long term. Read the books they have in library..avoid sharing razors, and anything else with other inmates.. remember dry blood on shaving razors can transmit H.I.V, hepatitus, and other infectious diseases.... don't create more problems for yourself this is not your career or permanent home..
Linda: STAY THE HELL OUT OF JAIL. DON'T GIVE THEM THE PLEASURE OF SEEING YOU AGAINE.
Missy: LEARN FROM YOU'RE MISTAKES AND NEVER MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE TWICE.STAY TO YOURSELF AND KEEP PEOPLE OUT OF YOU'RE BUSINESS.OH AND DON'T LET PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU.
